How to Become a Massage Therapist in Wisconsin
In America’s Dairyland, massage therapists need a license through the Wisconsin Massage Therapy and Bodywork Therapy Credentialing Board to legally practice. And your massage therapist license needs to be renewed every two years. To apply for a license, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Complete at least 600 hours of approved coursework in massage and bodywork therapy
- Pass the MBLEX Exam offered by the FSMTB or the Asian Bodywork Therapy Exam offered by NCCAOM
- Provide proof of coverage by a professional liability insurance policy with specific limits
- Pass the Wisconsin State Law Examination
- Have a current CPR/AED certification from an approved provider
- Have never been convicted of an offense (see Form 2252 for details)
- Pay the application fee
