New York Massage License Guidelines
To become a massage therapist in New York, you’ll need to obtain a massage therapist license from the New York Office of the Professions. This license is required for any use of the title “massage therapist” or “masseuse.” To apply for a license, you must:
- Be of good moral character
- Be at least 18 years old
- Meet the education requirements, including 1,000 hours of instruction at a program registered by the New York State Education Department
- Pass the New York State Massage Therapy Examination
- Have completed a CPR course
- Pay the application fee
