How to Become a Massage Therapist in Indiana
In The Crossroads of America, massage therapists get licensed to practice through the Indiana State Board of Massage Therapy. You’ll need to renew your massage therapist license on May 31st every 4-year cycle and complete 24 hours of continuing education credits.
To apply for a license, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Complete at least 625 hours of supervised courses from an accredited massage program
- Pass the MBLEX, NCETM, NCBTMB, or NBCA NCE exam
- Pass a criminal background check
- Disclose your SSN, educational transcripts, and any other state licenses in health-related professions
- Pay the application, verification, or renewal fee
Indiana massage therapists also need to show proof of professional liability insurance. Applicants can either send in a notarized copy of their certificate of insurance or have their insurance provider email a copy to the Board.
