To offer beauty services in Wisconsin, you must obtain a license from the Wisconsin Cosmetology Examining Board. Be sure to check for the most up-to-date guidelines when you’re applying for a license. These are the main steps to become licensed:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have completed high school or the equivalent.
- For cosmetology: complete 1,550 hours of training at a state-approved cosmetology school.
- For aesthetics: complete 450 hours of training at a state-approved esthetician school.
- Schedule an exam appointment with DL Roope.
- Pay the application fee.
- Pass both written and practical portions of the exam.
- Your scores are sent to the board which will review your application and make the decision to issue a license.
