- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have completed high school or the equivalent.
- For cosmetology: complete 1,500 hours of training at a state-approved cosmetology school.
- For esthetics: complete 650 hours of training at a state-approved esthetician school.
- Pass the NIC (National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology) written and practical exams.
- Submit an application with proof of graduation and passing scores.
- Pay the required fees.
