Kentucky Beauty License Guidelines
To offer beauty services in Kentucky, you must obtain a license from the Kentucky Board of Cosmetology. Be sure to check for the most up-to-date guidelines when you’re applying for a license. These are the main steps to become licensed:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have completed high school or the equivalent.
- For cosmetology: complete 1,500 hours of training at a state-approved cosmetology school.
- For esthetics: complete 750 hours of training at a state-approved esthetician school.
- Register to take your exams through PSI.
- Pass both written and practical exams.
- Submit an application through the KBC online licensing portal.
- Pay the required fees.
